Sara Toofail Ahmed Vidha - Secretary General
Welcome delegates!
It brings me immense joy to greet you all and I am truly honoured that you all have decided to spend your time, during a crucial period, where you will be faced with the pressures of academics and simultaneously strive to work harder as you all compete to promote the agendas of your allocated nations. Along with working hand in hand with your peers to provide a longstanding, majority consensual solution. MUN's provide that complacent balance between the finer points of a conference, including the development of soft skills together with those of critical analysis, evaluation as well as networking. The DSMUN holds a crucial theme this year, in light of the political theme of today's world. Here we ensure that a sturdy platform with exposure to a diplomatic world is provided and where all of us are coerced into being unique thinking individuals. More than anything, I am very excited for this MUN as it promises to be an exhilarating experience. With that, we hope the best for your preparations and look forward to a fruitful and fine debate as well as efficient state-craft over the duration of this conference! |
Rayyan Abbassi - Secretary General
Greetings delegates!
Writing this, I clearly re-call my first MUN. the butterflies before the first speech, the adrenaline from the first social and the creeping excitement before voting on my first resolution. MUNs have always in my opinion been the perfect balanced way to train todays generation the balance between the two integral means to live a life. To undertake complex decisions in utmost seriousness while executing others in the most playful of ways. It teaches us to don on larger hats, hats belonging to some of the finest men and women who tirelessly work behind the scenes to combat conflict and provide a stable world. At DSMUN, we look at all the verticals. The committees you will sit in will be led by an experienced and able secretariat. A dais, where they will subtly lead you to handle the fine threads of diplomacy and policy instruments as you weave resolutions and charters, providing solutions to some of the most pressing matters of today. In short, the DSMUN stands as a platform, for all of us to grow into better versions of ourselves, as we network, confide, plan and execute within those three days. With that, I wish all of you the best of luck as you conduct yourselves as model delegates! |
Abhimanyu Baruah - Chair, General Assembly 1
Greetings delegates of the First General Assembly, My name is Abhimanyu Baruah and I am currently a student in the A level program, with a focus on sciences. I’ve been taking part in MUNs for more than 3 years now, and it has become a big part of who I am. The feeling of debate and competition is something I have come to love. If this is your first MUN, you may be anxious about debate or public speaking, but you will certainly leave a stronger and more confident individual than you were when you came in. DSMUN will provide you with a platform to debate with other delegates, older, younger, more and less experienced than yourself, which makes learning inevitable. With more than 14 MUN experiences in the dais, you can be sure you are in good hands. We can not wait to meet all of you, and we hope you leave this MUN with a broader perspective of the world than ever before. Good luck!

Darren Noronha - Co-chair, General Assembly 1
Greetings delegates. My name is Darren Noronha, a year 13 student at St. Mary’s high school studying science and an aspiring surgeon. I am more than happy to be part of the secretariat for DSMUN 19’. Being my first opportunity as a Co-Chair I would like to make the most out of this experience. Expect the best, be prepared for the worst, don’t care what people think and be yourself. We can make a difference. Our generations ideas and developments will be passed on continuously to the next. A main goal of MUN is to really show your passion towards fighting for your beliefs and defending the truth. As future leaders, the possibility's are endless, our opinions today will drive a better tomorrow. However, over all the debating and research, do not forget to have fun. Take pictures, meet new people and relax. Join us in the journey to make DSMUN 19’ the best it possibly can. Looking forward to see you all.

Greetings Delegates of the Committee.
My name is Farva Nadeem and I will be playing the role of the Co-Chair of the United Nations General Assembly First Committee. I hope that all of you actively participate over the span of the upcoming three days where you can find a place to put forth your arguments, constructively add to the debate without the fear of judgement, boost your confidence and return home with a bucket-load of wonderful memories. I believe that above the joy of winning at an MUN conference comes the satisfaction of being able to express yourself and here at DSMUN’ 19; I truly hope that you are able to do so. As for myself, this shall be my twelfth model united nations conference where I will yet again be able to express my liking for politics, history, writing and using big words that I usually nauseate at. I hope that you’re looking forward to this just as much as I am and I wish you the best of luck! |
Mir Mubasher - Chair, International Atomic Energy Agency
Dear Delegates
It is my honor to be your chair for the 2nd session of DSMUN and with pride that I welcome you all to an exciting opportunity. Encouraging students who are new to the MUN to become confident has always been my goal and I plan to do the same in DSMUN 2019. I, myself, was a shy introvert till my first MUN in 2015 where my chair had encouraged, not just me per se, but the whole committee with such confidence, creating a ripple effect and impacting my public speaking skills tremendously. In conclusion, the dais can not wait to meet you all, and I hope we are able to help you grow into a more confident individual. |
Mohammad Amaan Siddiqui - Co-chair, International Atomic Energy Agency
"Honorable chairs, fellow delegates and distinguished guests" is how I would start in any MUN, but for once, I have been given an opportunity to start differently. The co-chair welcomes you all energetic delegates to the IAEA, where whatever you say, matters- literally and figuratively.
It's my first time being a part of the dais, and I'm sure I'm really going to enjoy the clashes, debates, collaboration, twists and conclusions our energetic delegates construct during the course of this conference. Having won best delegate in my very first MUN, It is important that you realize experience is not the root of victory, but your willpower, determination and confidence is. They are the roots of everything, once you plant those seeds, the shoots of everything else you need will automatically follow. While people attend MUNs for various reasons, be it a point in their CV, new experiences or just an activity away from academics. It is important to not let go of the fun, learning, socializing, friendships and memories gained in the course of an MUN, and we hope you enjoy delegating at Dubai Scholars to the max! |
Shayna Sahayaraj - Chair, Human Rights Council

Lamya Butt - Co-chair, Human Rights Council
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the Human Rights Council! My name is Lamya Butt and I am an aspiring lawyer who enjoys debating, politics, re-watching/binge watching the tv show, “suits”, and making sure my opinion is heard loud and clear. Being the first time as part of the executive board, I look forward to a healthy debate from future leaders and game changers. MUN is a great platform for developing yourself and trust me when I say this, once you let go of the ideology of a “daunting” committee, you will truly enjoy the experience. I assure you, you will truly love being part of the Human Rights Council, the topics are very impressive and hopefully the co chair will be too :)
